Soul Food – Stalking Red Deer In Snow

A short escape from city life and pandemic lockdowns. In this video I take you tracking animals with me in the deep snow. Along with a red fox hunting for rodents, I stalk a pair of red deer hinds as they try to rummage for food in the freezing conditions of the Carpathian Mountains. There’sContinue reading “Soul Food – Stalking Red Deer In Snow”

Greedy Pine Marten (Martes martes)

This greedy pine marten (Martes Martes) ate all the chicken bones I put out as bait for my trail camera. They are incredibly beautiful and agile creatures. That pine marten left several other animals greatly deluded as they came later and could smell the bones, but he’d already eaten them all.In the UK pine martensContinue reading “Greedy Pine Marten (Martes martes)”

The Forest Won’t Let Me Film – True Scary Forest Story

The Carpathian Mountains are filled with forest but there’s one particular section which I regularly visit which somehow stops me from filming with sound. It even messes with my trail camera footage. Creepy Forest Ghost Spot Creature

No idea what this is:   A strange object I captured on the trail cam in the forest (photo frames, not video). It appears to be about a foot long, vertical and consists of 5 small equidistant ‘spots’. Bizarrely, it’s in the same location that we had a tree come crashing down in front ofContinue reading “Creepy Forest Ghost Spot Creature”

Red Deer Stag Kills Man

A 78 year old man from Prievidza (a town in the west of Slovakia) has died in hospital a week after being attacked by a stag. Apparently, it was a spontaneous attack as the man tended his orchard – the stag charged and skewered him with its antlers. More can be read here – noviny.skContinue reading “Red Deer Stag Kills Man”

New Beech Marten footage – good quality!

Cousin of the Pine Marten, Beech or Stone Martens are the bane of village life out here in the Carpathian Mountains of Eastern Slovakia. They plague attics and cause a lot of damage. My garden is littered with large chunks of roof insulation and their scat is everywhere. Also, they run around all nightContinue reading “New Beech Marten footage – good quality!”
